Glastonbury Festival in association with Q magazine is pleased to announce the return of the Emerging Talent Competition for 2009.
The competition website is now open for artists and bands to upload their entries and will remain open until January 26th 2009.
Glastonbury has been running a competition to find the greatest Emerging Talent for the last four Festivals. Previous competitions have brought bands like The Subways, Bimbo Jones and Scouting For Girls to Festival prominence.
This year’s competition will be judged by an elite team of musical experts: representing the Festival (Michael and Emily Eavis), BBC Radio One (Huw Stephens) and music journalists from the Q stable.
Glastonbury ETC offers the winner among the unsigned artists the opportunity to play on one of the main stages at the world renowned Festival in June 2009.
Artists and bands can upload two of their tracks to the competition. The top 12 will go forward to a series of live finals in March 2009.
As if that wasn’t enough, for the first time this year, the public will be able to decide one ‘wild card’ entry into the finals. This act, voted for online at qthemusic.com will then be guaranteed a slot at the Queen’s Head - the hugely popular onsite venue curated by Q magazine - as well as having a chance to win a slot on the Pyramid or Other Stage.
Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition is open to musicians not signed to a major label, based in the UK and Ireland, and is the best way to get your music listened to by many of the stage and area programmers throughout the Festival.
