Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition 2009

Glastonbury Festival in association with Q magazine is pleased to announce the return of the Emerging Talent Competition for 2009.

The competition website is now open for artists and bands to upload their entries and will remain open until January 26th 2009.

Glastonbury has been running a competition to find the greatest Emerging Talent for the last four Festivals. Previous competitions have brought bands like The Subways, Bimbo Jones and Scouting For Girls to Festival prominence.

Madonna Looks to Play Glasto

The Mirror newspaper, has suggested that Madonna might be playing this year's Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm, Somerset in June.

The newspaper reported that the singer is said to be concerned about her profile in the UK after her split from British husband Guy Ritchie, and her latest single 'Miles Away' failed to make an impact in the charts.

Glastonbury Leftfield stage is no more plus 1st headliners?

The Left Field tent at Glastonbury Festival - a fixture at the Festival since 2002 - is no more.

Seamus McBride the President of Battersea and Wandsworth TUC who have been responsible for the tent made the announcement at the London premiere of "Glastonbury Left Field 2008 - The Movie" last night.

A spokesman for Glastonbury Festival exclusively tells us "Glastonbury Festival is constantly evolving. Although the Left Field area will not be happening next year in its current format, Glastonbury always likes to spring surprises, so at this point we can't confirm exactly what new element and areas will make up the 2009 Festival. We will be making announcements about new attractions in the new year."

TAKE THAT desperately want to complete their all-conquering comeback by headlining Glastonbury.

The man band have never played a big festival and already have their eyes on a headline slot in 2010 as the icing on the cake for their incredible careers.

Bosses at their Universal label have held informal talks with festival chiefs and they could even be joined on stage by ex-bandmate ROBBIE WILLIAMS if reunion talks continue going well.

Glastonbury licence 'is assured'

Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis says the music festival will never lose its licence because it has become too important to the local economy.

"The local economy gets £100m a year," he told Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.

"So there's no discussion about not allowing the festival a licence any more. They won't stop it now."
