Michael Eavis has hit out at reports that he's planning to step away from the legendary festival in a couple of years. Earlier this week, various news sources claimed that the dairy farmer would be handing the organisational duties over to daughter Emily in 2011, but he insists the rumours are false. Michael told BBC 6 Music: "It's rubbish, that story. "I said I'll be finishing in 2021. So I'll be 81 by then." 2009 "Best One Ever" Taken from Gigwise.comGlastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has said this year's festival, which ended yesterday, was the best ever. Eavis, who has a reputation for making the same statement every year, said the three headliners – Blur Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young – pleased everyone. “Having Neil Young, who I've been waiting for for 39 years, and Bruce Springsteen just appear out of the blue - and of course Blur tonight - we've got three major, major headliners,” he told reporters. "Neil Young pleased all the old hippie types and Springsteen pleased everyone else. He did a hell of a show, what energy he has at 58 years of age is amazing. Arrests and injuries up on 2008 festival by SaturdayTaken from Gigwise.com The number of arrests at this year’s Glastonbury festival has already exceeded the whole of the 2008 event. |
